Oddly enough, I rarely go to concerts, primarily because I've been disappointed so often and at great cost. However, I make exceptions every once in awhile. On September 24th, we ventured up to Manhattan for Bjork's Madison Square Garden concert. She was incredible, as was Mark Bell. This mix is divided into two sections. Act I is if I had any input on the evening's set list. Act II is a close approximation to Bjork's playlist. However, she deviated from album arrangements (as always), so don't expect some black market stream from the show. In any case, please do enjoy. If you are familiar with Bjork, I hope you rejoice in this mix, as I'm sure Christina, Mariana, and Sean will. Here are the most downloaded mixes for the last 30 days: 1. That's Swell!. Whether I intend it or not, my hiphop mixes always seem to be bigger winners. For this mix, my intention was to show as many shades as possible of contemporary hiphop. Since I dropped this mix, I've been trying to stick more to niches or collectives.

2. Frenetic Sunshade. This originated as the second half of another mix I have since misplaced. Typically when I sketch out an electro mix, I like to start uptempo and bring it back down on the b-side. For this one, I didn't stick to such a vanilla style, opting to move from one track to the next. I really am kicking myself for losing this playlist. Over time I've had plenty of people email looking for it. Sorry guys. 3. Day Breakers. A good parent isn't supposed to have favorites, but I'm not a parent and these mixes aren't my kids. This is definitely up there in my book, as I like the brief, and in my opinion, concise flow of it. I still regularly throw this into my commuting routine. 4.Within Reach. You guys like the Basement Jaxx- I get the point. :) Between them and the ChemBros's block rockin' beats, you're got yerself a party. For any chemical beat fans out there, I highly recommend picking up the Brothers Gonna Work It Out EP. It's a solid mix split into four acts. 5.Open Visitation If only I was podcasting four years during my early french house phase. If I didn't burn myself on it, I'd probably be spinning a lot more Etienne de Crecy. Come to think of it, it's been a long time since I've dropped some Cassius or good Daft Punk. Hmm. I originally mixed this together on 06.24.2002. Lately I've been digging through my stacks of mix cds spanning the last 6 years, figuring out which ones deserve to be rehashed from the CD abyss and which don't. Part of me wanted to remix mix all the tracks and give it some new pep. But the preservationist in me (read: lazy) resisted the urge. I prefer to maintain the mix as I intended at the time. This offers insight into what I was thinking at the time, musically. As of now, I don't have the playlist for What Does It All Mean?- but if I have some time, I'll throw it together. In all honesty, it's not a priority. However, holla if you want to know a particular track because that's easier to figure out. And if enough people let me know, I'll take the time to post a playlist. As always, thanks for listening.-djc

I decided to do something a little different with this mix. My wife and I are dog/cat sitting for my parents while they’re away on vacation and I didn’t have my collection to pull from for this mix. I realized this last night when I was driving home from work. Lacking my home computer to synch up to, I’ve been running on empty, music-wise. A red-light dig through my glove box produced a great find: U.N.K.L.E.’s debut LP, Psyence Fiction. This is an album that really takes it to another level. I know you’ve heard pieces of these songs threaded throughout many of my mixes. If anything, that’s truly a testament to the influence that James Lavelle and DJ Shadow have on where I am, musically. If you liked what you've heard before, you'll probably like this. This mix is my “interpretation” of the album. I’ve edited it, swapped it around, and altogether rearranged it, hopefully for your listening pleasure. If you like what I did here, let me know. I’ve got tons of other albums/artists that I hold in such high regard and would love to continue doing a series of these tribute mixes. If they don’t jive with the listening public, well, so be it.
